Principle of superposition-free memory.

چکیده

The requirement that memory he superposition-free imposes a restrictive condition on the structure of neural models. A simple model which satisfies this condition consists of two levels of neurons, with primary level neurons tiring in response to external input and secondary (reference) neurons modifying activated primaries in such a way that they can later fire these primaries. Reference neurons are either activated by other reference neurons (time-ordered memories) or by primaries (contentordered memories). The model allows for general powers of memory manipulation (e.g. formation of associative memories) through rememorization and has a number of implications which correspond to features of the brain.

Computational and behavioral investigations of the SOB-CS removal mechanism in working memory

SOB-CS is an interference-based computational model of working memory that explains findings from simple and complex span experiments. According to the model’s mechanism of interference by superposition, high similarity between memory items and subsequently processed distractors is beneficial because the more a distractor is similar to an item, the more they share similar units, leading to less...

Memory and Superposition in a Spin Glass Typeset Using Revt E X

Non-equilibrium dynamics in a Ag(Mn) spin glass are investigated by measurements of the temperature dependence of the remanent magnetization. Using specific cooling protocols before recording the thermo-or isothermal remanent magnetizations on reheating , it is found that the measured curves effectively disclose non-equilibrium spin glass characteristics such as aging and memory phenomena as we...

In this paper we prove in a rigorous mathematical way (using the Clifford bundle formalism) that the energies and momenta of two distinct and arbitrary free Maxwell fields (of finite energies and momenta) that are superposed are additive and thus that there is no incompatibility between the principle of superposition of fields and the principle of energy-momentum conservation, contrary to some ...

Finite State Temporality and Context-Free Languages

In the finite-state temporality approach, events in natural language semantics have been characterized in regular languages, with strings representing sequences of temporal observations. We extend this approach to natural language constructions which are not regular. Context-free constructions are detailed and discussed. Superposition, the key operator in the finite-state temporality approach i...

Superposition of Episodic Memories: Overdistribution and Quantum Models

Memory exhibits episodic superposition, an analog of the quantum superposition of physical states: Before a cue for a presented or unpresented item is administered on a memory test, the item has the simultaneous potential to occupy all members of a mutually exclusive set of episodic states, though it occupies only one of those states after the cue is administered. This phenomenon can be modeled...
